For years, Sterling residents drove elsewhere for a night out. Ashburn for Korean barbecue, Reston for a brasserie, Leesburg for anything with a wine list. That routine is quietly reversing in 2026. The new openings clustering along Route 7, Nokes Boulevard, and Cascades Parkway are not scattered one-offs. They land inside five specific retail centers most residents already pass on a weekly grocery run, which changes what a Saturday in Sterling can look like without changing what time you leave the house.
Below is a working map of what has opened, what is opening, and where the town's summer calendar is anchoring outside the dining room.
The 2026 opening wave, mapped by center
Rather than a list of restaurants, think of it as a list of intersections. Each cluster has its own character.
Great Falls Plaza (Route 7). Austin Grill, the Tex-Mex brand from Thompson Restaurants, opened here on Tuesday, January 27, taking over the space that was previously a Velocity Wings. Prior Austin Grill locations had all closed, and the company is relaunching the concept with this new Sterling location. The plaza already anchors weekday errands for the Sugarland Run side of town; the shift here is a sit-down dinner option where there was a wing counter.
Nokes Plaza at Dulles Town Center. A Canadian chain expanding into the U.S., Karahi Boys, opened its first Virginia location on January 17 at Nokes Plaza, off Nokes Boulevard at Windmill Parc Drive. The kitchen specializes in traditional Pakistani cuisine with 100 percent halal meat, with specialties including Beef Behari Boti, Chicken Haleem, and Khara Keema, minced beef cooked in a karahi with fresh spices and tomatoes. Opening hours run 4 to 10 p.m., which positions it squarely as a dinner destination rather than a lunch stop.
Dulles 28 Centre. Sushi Cho held its soft opening on Thursday, January 29, taking over a space at the Dulles 28 Centre previously occupied by Cubasi Bistro, Big Blue Swim School, and the Residence Inn hotel. The menu covers sushi, sashimi, donburi, teriyaki, tempura, katsu, and more. Worth noting for anyone tracking turnover in that center: the space has cycled through three very different tenant types before landing on a Japanese kitchen.
Cascades Marketplace. Inju Korean BBQ is opening at Cascades Marketplace, bringing interactive Korean BBQ dining with tabletop grills and premium meats. While the full menu for the Sterling location is still being finalized, the Annapolis restaurant provides a baseline for what guests can expect, with the Loudoun location expected to introduce variations that reflect local preferences. The Cascades corridor has been the slowest of the five to reinvent itself; Inju is the most watched of the arrivals.
Parc City Center (Route 7). Los Brothers Restaurant, specializing in American cuisine with a Latin flair, opened in the Parc City Center off Route 7 in Sterling, the same retail area with Mission BBQ, KFC, Burger King and many other restaurants. Los Brothers has taken over the space that was previously the Saigon Cafe, and this is the second location for the brand, with the original in Madison, Virginia, southwest of Culpeper. Small plates run to Crispy Taquitos, Chorizo Dip, and Beets and Pecan Salad, while big plates include Carne Asada, a Smashburger, a Torta Mexicana, Shrimp and Grits, Chicken Alfredo Pasta, and a Pan Fried Pork Chop.
22365 Broderick Drive, Suite 120. Colombian's Place Sterling is targeting an April 2026 grand opening at 22365 Broderick Drive, Suite 120. The suite runs roughly 2,500 to 3,000 square feet, with a full-service kitchen and dining room seating for 60 to 80 guests. Contrast that with the brand's original food-hall footprint in Leesburg and the Sterling location becomes the format upgrade, not a copy-paste.
Six openings across five centers, each within a ten-minute drive of the others. That is the geographic story worth pausing on.
The wildcard opening in June
The most format-shifting arrival is not a restaurant at all.
Wonder is scheduled to open its Sterling location in June 2026. It is a food hall concept that brings multiple restaurant brands under one roof, allowing customers to order from various eateries on a single bill. The Sterling opening will be watched closely as the company continues its expansion across the D.C. region.
For a family where one adult wants Thai, one wants a burger, and one child will only eat pasta, the single-bill mechanic solves the actual friction of dining out with mixed appetites. That has been a gap in the local restaurant map for a long time. Whether Wonder holds up against the tabletop-grill experience at Inju, or the neighborhood-restaurant feel at Los Brothers, is the interesting question for the back half of 2026.
Claude Moore Park's summer calendar
Dining momentum is only half of what is happening this summer. The other half is quietly programmed inside a 350-acre park most residents drive past on Old Vestals Gap Road.
Claude Moore Park spans over 350 acres with walking trails through forests, meadows, and around ponds, sports fields, picnic areas, and a visitor center, plus the Lanesville Heritage Area within the park offering a glimpse into 18th and 19th-century life through a historic house and farm buildings. The two summer anchors worth putting on the calendar now:
June 13, 2026 — The Claude Moore 5K and 10K runs a course through the forest and trails at Claude Moore Park, with walkers welcome to attend. The 5K trail is now certified, offering a setting for a personal record, race training, or a scenic trail run.
July 4, 2026 — Fourth Fest takes place from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Claude Moore Park, 21550 Old Vestals Gap Rd, organized by Loudoun County Parks, Recreation and Community Services. Personal fireworks, including sparklers, are not allowed, outside alcoholic beverages are not allowed, pets are not allowed in the fireworks viewing areas, and no lawn chairs or seating are provided in the fireworks viewing area.
The seating rule catches out-of-town guests every year. Bring blankets, not chairs.
For everyday use, the recreation side of the park adds indoor programming that carries through the humid weeks. The Claude Moore Recreation and Community Center offers swimming, fitness, a climbing wall, a competitive pool and leisure pool with slide, drop-in child-care, and facility rentals. On a 96-degree Saturday, that climbing wall solves a problem the trails cannot.
Putting a Saturday together
Here is where the mapping matters. A resident living near Cascades can spend a Saturday morning on the certified 5K trail at Claude Moore, cool down at the leisure pool, then be at a tabletop grill at Inju by dinner without ever crossing Route 28. A family closer to Sugarland Run has Great Falls Plaza and Parc City Center within a five-minute radius, and Claude Moore ten minutes north for the Fourth of July.
That is what changes when six openings land inside five centers in six months. It is not that Sterling has a new restaurant. It is that the town's default Saturday itinerary no longer requires leaving it.
A few practical notes for the summer:
- Karahi Boys does not open until 4 p.m., so it is a dinner-only option, not a lunch pivot.
- Sushi Cho, Austin Grill, and Los Brothers are all replacing tenants that closed in 2025 or earlier. Expect refreshed interiors, not new construction.
- Colombian's Place and Wonder are the two openings still ahead as of publication; both are worth a phone call before driving out.
- Fourth Fest fills the park early. The 10:30 a.m. start time is not a suggestion.
